Process optimisation and fouling control in membrane bioreactors for wastewater and drinking water treatment

The Institute of Municipal Water Management (IMWM) of the Faculty of Civil Engineering represents the Brno University of Technology as a co-ordinator of the WARE-ME project. The IMWM is a nationally and internationally recognised research group of water management experts who work as consultants in the industry on an occasional as well as permanent basis. The IMWM deals with research in terms of sanitary and environmental engineering including waste management, hydraulic modelling, application of methods of operation research concerning sewer networks, the theory and methods of management and optimisation etc. IMWM focuses its attention on emerging issues concerning sustainability of waste disposal systems, reuse and integrated management, and sustainable development.

The activities of the institute are mainly focused on:

· balneotechnics
The Institute has taken part in many international research projects, including the following:

The Institute also co-operates with many national companies, especially water supply utilities, designers and consulting establishments. The employees of the institute have participated in elaborating of a large number of scientific papers and projects (general projects of water supply and sewerage systems, projects of WWTP etc.), they provide consultations and expertises, organise technical seminars and conferences.
