BIOMATH is a research group at the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering of Ghent University (UGent) in Belgium. Research focus is `Model-based bio-process optimisation`.

BIOMATH offers broad and strong expertise and experience in systems analysis and modelling for varying applications. Key methodologies applied are General modelling and simulation methodologies, Risk Assessment, Fault tolerant bioprocess control, Optimal experimental design, Metabolic modelling and Sensor technology. Applications under study reside in the environmental area, e.g. wastewater treatment, river water quality, but also focuses on fermentation processes and processes related to food technology. The environmental system oriented research team currently consists of 5 Post-docs and 15 PhD students.
