Process optimisation and fouling control in membrane bioreactors for wastewater and drinking water treatment

The Kompetenzzentrum Wasser Berlin (KWB - Berlin Centre of Competence for Water) is an international centre for water research and knowledge transfer. Capacities of the Berlin universities and research institutes, the Berlinwasser group of companies and Veolia (formerly Vivendi Water) are combined into the KWB.

The KWB stands as a network node to strengthen the position of Berlin as an international centre in the field of water economy and technology. Partners and actors are scientific facilities, public institutions, companies as well as multipliers from public and private sectors.

The associates of the KWB gGmbH are the TSB Technologiestiftung Innovationszentrum Berlin, the Berliner Wasserbetriebe, the Berlinwasser Holding Plc and Veolia Water Germany (formerly Vivendi Water).

Since January 2003, together with the Technical University of Berlin and the Berlin research network Wasserforschung e.V., the partners have been financing a network office with a base budget of 440.000 Euro per year.
